Indonesia Mission Project Overview Jakarta & Central Papua, Indonesia | October 15–27, 2026
Executive Summary This October, a small ministry team will travel to Indonesia to conduct Christian ministry gatherings in Jakarta and Central Papua, including pastors' meetings, teaching conferences, Sunday services, and evangelistic outreach. For me, this journey represents more than another ministry trip. It is the culmination of a calling that began nearly four decades ago. When I became a Christian 37 years ago, I experienced a season of recurring dreams in which I found myself in unfamiliar landscapes and climates, often among people in remote parts of the world. The dreams were unusually vivid and persistent, and I began writing down the names, sounds, and fragments I could remember. One day, while living in Philadelphia, I took that list to a Rand McNally map store and asked the man working there if any of the names or sounds meant anything to him. He returned with a map of the Indonesian archipelago. I did not understand the significance of that moment at the time, but I never forgot it. Years later, after receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit and becoming connected with World Harvest Christian Center in Pennsauken, New Jersey, I met Rev. Ruth Pardede-Waas, an Indonesian ministry leader who has become a trusted partner in this work. Ruth will serve as our on-site coordinator, translator, and member of the teaching team for this mission. Through our partnership, I have already had the opportunity to minister in several places connected to those early dreams, including Yogyakarta, Sumatra, and Kalimantan. Central Papua is the remaining location from that original list, and it has continued to carry a particular significance in my heart. This October, we are preparing to go. Ministry Context: Central Papua Central Papua is one of the most remote and culturally distinctive regions of Indonesia. The area surrounding the Freeport/Grasberg mining region lies in the Sudirman Mountain Range and includes both highland and lowland communities. It is home to indigenous Amungme people of the highlands and Kamoro people of the coastal lowlands, alongside migrants from other parts of Indonesia. The region's indigenous communities have longstanding spiritual and cultural connections to the mountains, rivers, forests, and sea. For the Amungme in particular, the natural landscape is closely connected to identity, ancestry, and spiritual understanding. The Kamoro likewise maintain cultural traditions in which the natural world and ancestral heritage play an important role. Christianity has had a significant presence in the region for decades, and many indigenous Papuans participate in Christian churches. At the same time, traditional spiritual and ancestral beliefs continue to influence cultural identity and daily life. This creates a unique ministry environment in which biblical faith and traditional ancestral beliefs can become intertwined, sometimes blending the truth of Scripture with cultural and spiritual traditions in ways that can obscure the distinctive message and transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The region has also experienced substantial social and economic change associated with industrial development, migration, and environmental pressures. These realities have created complex issues surrounding land, culture, identity, and community life. For these reasons, ministry in Central Papua is not simply about traveling to a remote location to conduct services. It is an opportunity to come alongside local churches and ministry leaders who understand their communities firsthand—to encourage them, strengthen believers, teach the Word of God, and communicate the hope of Christ within a culture where spiritual questions are deeply woven into everyday life. Ministry on the Ground The mission will involve a small team of approximately three to five people, including myself, Rev. Ruth Pardede-Waas, and members of the Womack/Charis Indonesia ministry team. In Jakarta, we will minister through church gatherings and Sunday worship services. In Central Papua, we will work alongside local churches and ministry leaders, participating in pastors' gatherings, teaching conferences, Sunday services, and evangelistic events. Translation and local coordination will be essential to communicating effectively and serving the churches with whom we are partnering. The purpose of the trip is not simply to hold meetings. Our goal is to strengthen local believers and leaders, encourage pastors, teach biblical truth, build relationships, and make the Gospel accessible to people in communities where ministry resources and opportunities can be limited. The small size of the team allows us to work directly with local churches and leaders rather than creating a large event centered on visiting Americans. We want to come alongside the work that is already taking place through Indonesian churches and ministry leaders, providing encouragement, teaching, partnership, and practical support. Why Financial Support Is Needed Team members are personally raising support for portions of their travel and accommodations, and some expenses may be covered directly by local churches. However, significant costs are required to carry out the mission, particularly flights from the United States to Indonesia and onward to Central Papua, local transportation, lodging, meals, translation, and other ministry-related expenses. Some costs will be incurred during the mission, with invoices and other expenses coming due following the scheduled events. Grant funding would help provide the resources needed to settle these ministry-related expenses after the mission costs are documented and invoices are received, rather than allowing those expenses to become an ongoing personal financial burden for the ministry team. Current Estimated Expenses:
Transportation from Spokane through Seattle and Singapore: $1,526
Round-trip Jakarta–Central Papua airfare: $924
Jakarta lodging and local transportation: approximately $300
Jakarta–Bandung transportation and vehicle rental: approximately $150
Central Papua local ministry expenses and translation: approximately $2,030
Estimated total project expenses: approximately $5,030 These expenses represent the practical infrastructure necessary to put the ministry on the ground: transporting the team to remote locations, providing lodging and local transportation, securing translation, and enabling the team to participate in scheduled gatherings and evangelistic outreach. The Larger Vision At the heart of this project is a simple conviction: the Gospel is worth carrying to people wherever they are. Central Papua is geographically distant from the United States, but the purpose of this mission is not the distance—it is people. It is pastors who need encouragement, believers who need teaching and strengthening, churches that benefit from partnership, and people who need an opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ. What began decades ago as a series of unexplained dreams has gradually become a tangible ministry journey. Places I once knew only as unfamiliar names on a handwritten list have become real communities, churches, relationships, and opportunities to serve. This mission to Central Papua represents the final remaining location from that original list, but it is not simply the completion of a personal story. It is an opportunity to invest in the ongoing work of local churches and ministry leaders in Indonesia. Financial support from the Huston Foundation would help make the practical side of that ministry possible—providing transportation, lodging, translation, and local resources necessary for our team to be physically present and effectively serve alongside our Indonesian ministry partners. The vision is spiritual. The work is practical. And the mission is to bring the two together—putting faith into action among the people and churches we have been called to serve.

Project Title: Minute of Motivation--Expanding a Daily Written Message into Short-Form Video
Request Amount: $2,500
For nearly two decades, Minute of Motivation has delivered daily, Scripture-centered encouragement through concise written reflections. What began as a devotional email, and later became a blog, has become a consistent spiritual touchpoint—serving believers in their growth while also reaching individuals who may not yet identify as Christian but are open to hope, reflection, and biblical wisdom in daily life.
This project represents the next strategic step: expanding that trusted devotional rhythm into short-form video in order to meet today’s audience where they are most present—on social media platforms.
The vision is not merely to increase content production, but to multiply spiritual impact.

We live in a distracted, anxious, and digitally saturated culture. Many people desire spiritual grounding yet struggle to maintain consistent engagement with Scripture. Others are spiritually curious but hesitant to enter a church environment.
Short-form video provides a direct and accessible way to place biblical encouragement into daily life—on phones, in homes, during commutes, in moments of uncertainty. It allows Scripture to intersect ordinary routines.
For believers, these daily messages reinforce spiritual discipline and growth. For seekers, they provide a low-barrier introduction to biblical truth and the person of Jesus Christ.
The ultimate aim is not platform expansion alone, but transformation—helping individuals deepen their faith and, for some, encounter the gospel in a way that leads to lasting change.
Recent engagement trends demonstrate both receptivity and growth:
Facebook follower growth: +25.6% over the past 90 days (primary platform)
Instagram launch: New account gained its first 150 followers
Overall video views: Increased by 368% in the last 90 days
3-second views: Up 75%
1-minute views: Up 100%, indicating increased viewer retention
Average engagement: Increased by 135%, including growth in reactions, comments, and shares
A standout example includes a post on the topic of fasting that reached 39,562 views and generated 725 click-throughs to related fasting resources on the website, demonstrating both reach and meaningful audience action.
These metrics indicate not only increased visibility, but growing depth of engagement.
Video communicates more than information—it communicates presence. Tone, expression, and authenticity foster relational trust in ways text alone cannot. In digital spaces where attention is limited, concise and personal delivery increases both retention and impact.
With consistent short-form video, Minute of Motivation can evolve from a written devotional archive into a scalable digital discipleship platform—one capable of:
Providing daily spiritual formation
Encouraging interactive faith conversations
Reaching individuals beyond geographic boundaries
Creating shareable, gospel-centered touchpoints that multiply organically
This is a timely opportunity to build sustainable infrastructure while audience engagement is accelerating.

Funding will support:
Adaptation of existing devotional content into 60–90 second scripts
Basic filming equipment and editing tools
Post-production formatting and captioning
Initial targeted promotion
Evaluation of engagement metrics The $2,500 investment establishes a durable workflow and production capacity. With nearly twenty years of existing content, the ministry can sustain long-term video output without additional content development costs.

This project strengthens digital discipleship capacity while maximizing stewardship. It builds a bridge between proven devotional content and the communication realities of today’s culture.
At its core, this initiative seeks to ensure that biblical encouragement does not remain confined to a blog archive—but moves outward, daily, into the lives of people who need hope, direction, and the message of Christ.
